The experience of postgraduate taught students
(taken from the postgraduate taught survey 2005, 2006 and 2007)
5.3.1
| Programme information | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 |
|---|---|---|---|
| The aims of my programme are clear | 4.1 | 3.8 | NDA |
Assessment and Feedback |
|||
| The criteria used in marking have been made clear in advance | 3.6 | 3.3 | 3.4 |
| Assessment arrangements and marking have been fair | 3.4 | 3.5 | NDA |
The results suggest that in 2005 and 2006 PGT students mainly agreed that the University provides them with the aims of the relevant programme. Satisfaction with the arrangements regarding assessment criteria and marking did not score as high, although results are similar to those at undergraduate level in the NSS and follow a national trend.
5.3.2
The results from the 2007 PGT survey which are specific to postgraduate students studying at Brussels suggests that there are similar problems regarding assessment at feedback at this campus. Less than 50% of students were satisfied that the feedback on their assessed work has enabled them to understand the topic. A similar percentage believed that they received sufficient guidance with their study project.

The experience of postgraduate research students
(taken from the postgraduate taught survey 2005, 2006 and 2007)
| Course Information information | 2006 | 2007 |
|---|---|---|
| The entitlements and responsibilities of research students have been made clear | 2.5 | NDA |
The information from the 2006 PGR survey suggests that students are not satisfied with the information given to them regarding entitlements and responsibilities. The score of 2.5 is extremely low and indeed poorer than other score in all of the surveys analysed for the student written submission. There is no data to compare this to for 2007 so it is not possible to know whether or not research students have entitlements and responsibilities made clearer now than in 2006.
