Faculty Representation

classroom

There has been confusion and disparity over the last 24 months regarding student representation at faculty level. The arrangement for nominating students to attend Faculty level meetings has been variable and as a result little feedback was obtained from faculty level which could be communicated to the student body. Representatives at these meetings have varied and as a result it has been difficult for student representatives to provide a consistent student voice. Examples of this include a Kent Union Faculty representative only having observer status on the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee; representatives not receiving necessary papers for meetings and variation between faculties on the number of student representatives sitting on committees. In recent months the Education Officer has attempted to work with faculty Deans and Officers to resolve this problem. Progress has been made in the Faculties of STMS and Humanities.
